Longing for Summer.....

Although it is still officially Summer the days here in New England have been cool and crisp for a while now. The leaves have already started to turn and our Summer fun is over. The kids and I were just reminiscing about all the fun we had this summer. By far the kids favorite activity was going to the beach. We all, except for Bill perhaps, wish we lived in a beach house where our back yard was a beautiful, white, sandy beach.

The kids favorite beach is Wingaersheek Beach. Bill remembers going to this beach as a kid and it's one of Grandmother's favorite beaches too. In the morning the tide goes out and reveals long sand bars, tide pools, and rocks to explore and climb. The kids love how Wingaersheek Beach seems like two different beaches at low and high tides. One great for adventuring and the other great for swimming and frolicking in the water. The sand is white and the water is crystal clear. We really miss Summer.

This is a view from the last little bit of "dry" land back to the beach as the tide was coming in. We almost waited too long to start our walk back to shore.
Love the little lighthouse in the distance. We snapped this photo right when we made it back in from our walk on the sandbar. The tide came in fast and as you can see there was no dry land at all when we finally reached the beach. It was pretty amazing.

Here's a little crab we found in a tide pool. Exploring the tide pools was Erin's favorite thing and she was really good at discovering little things that the other two overlooked.

The rocks that the kids love to explore. Me, not so much. The boulders are rough in some spots and slimy in other places. My feet were not happy to be bare while climbing all over these babies.

Last, but not least, our little Maggie and her mommy, Aunt Staci enjoying some time at Wingaersheek Beach. Ahhhhhh! We love summer.
