Roller Skating

Every year for our kid's birthdays we allow them to choose an activity to do together as a family as part of their celebration. The birthday kid is allowed to invite one friend to come with us. We do this in place of a big, invite your whole class at school kind of party which we only do at age 8, 12 or 13, and again at 16. This year Shannon wanted to go roller skating. Totally fun. We had a great time, and even little three year old Sean joined in on the fun.
I haven't been roller skating in years. The kids have never been roller skating at all. Our kids are great at trying new things, mostly, and they all did well. Shannon does have a huge bruise on her arm from crashing into the wall/rail one too many times. Bill and I both remember skating a lot as kids. I use to know how to cross one foot over another on turns, and even skate backwards too! Not anymore!!!!
Erin thinks it not fair that I am hardly ever in the pictures, but mostly I do all the picture taking. Truth be told, this is one event that I am quite grateful to not have a visual reminder of for the rest of forever!
